Patron mayoress Mrs. Dr. E. Preuß
Dear Runners and Friends of the Erlangen Winterwaldlauf!
Welcome to the 12
th Erlangen Winterwaldlauf. John Stackmann and his team organise this running event in the forest "Brucker Lache" and after the success of the previous years the organising team may expect a still growing number of participants. I would like to say thank you to the organising team, knowing that an imposing number of hours has to be dedicated to planning and preparing before the first runners can be welcomed on the course. The success of the last years proves that running events are attractive also in the winter months.
Erlangen has about 100 sport clubs and our sport loving inhabitants make the "Brucker Lache" an ideal place for the Winterwaldlauf. We are especially proud that already 24 friends from our Russian twin town Wladimir have registered for the run. These enthusiastic runners travel several thousand kilometers just to take part in the 12
th Winterwaldlauf. As invitations have been uttered to all of our seven twin towns we look forward to welcoming participants from many countries.
Moving is healthy and competition is inspiring, and for the runners as well as for the spectators the event will be a possibility to meet old friends and to make new ones. So in the name of the City of Erlangen I say thank you again for organising this event and I wish a wonderful day to all of us.

Sports patron Tom Stuber
Dear woman runners and runners, dear audience,
a big welcome to the 12th Winterwaldlauf in Erlangen!
As your sports patron, it’s an honor to welcome you to this running event - especially because I know how thrilling it always is to take part in such an event - regardless whether you look forward excitedly to starting off with your vest number or as a spectator along the track. As always in life, it’s in these more or less tiring moments important not to keep yourself too busy with yourself. Because the many participants and spectators meet many friends already before the start, see their familiar faces again and are looking forward to great chats with friends. And hopefully many people along the track - in their role as companion, fan or interested spectator - will gain from the faces of the runners any number of impressions of this event, and then certainly absorb a lot of the fun and fascination of running that the participants convey.
So, already now, I'm looking forward to many happy faces so that this event gives you exactly what motivates you to run or spectate. Until then I wish you all a nice time without injuries, with exciting training experiences and with even better running weather.

welcome of organizer
Dear children, fitness jogger and athlete runner, dear reader, a big welcome to our 12th Winterwaldlauf!
All beginnings are difficult. This saying is valid for the organizer if he starts a new event. It is also valid for the first-time runner who participates i.e. over 10 km. At the beginning of this forest race in 1971 - at that time four 2-k-laps with start and finish on the football place in the middle of the forest at the crossing Bierweg/ Franzosenweg - had been only a handful of participants, and 1998 at the first Winterwaldlauf 181 finisher. At the 11th event on March 26, 2011, amazingly 1154 finished!

for the Orga-team:
John Stackmann

Among them also many first-time runner. We try hard also in order to meet them: simple registration (Internet), payment and pick-up of starting number in advance; compact facilities, flat course, low impact soft ground; each km is marked; the 5-km-lap enables to save energy by scheduling or to fink out if it's getting to hard; experienced "first aid" et c.!

The whole organization - means also each volunteer - tries again to offer you an impressing running event. A big "Thank you indeed" to all volunteers! Especially, our big thank you as well to the sponsors, the patron and Siemens Co. for the support! This enables that all of you could enjoy the performance test in the good forest air.
However, everybody could take part, without being a member in a club (open and public run/ walk) and without being a Siemens employee. Please register in time to assure your participation. You will not regret! Please, tell us if you notice that we have to improve, since we want to improve continuously.

We hope that everybody has a nice "moving experience" and lots of success at the 'Winterwaldlauf'.
